![]() Once you’ve made changes to your files, you’ll want to stage them and commit them to your repository. You’ll be able to view a side by side comparison of the changes you’ve made to the file. To view the changes to a file, select the file you want to view, and then select `File Status` from the menu bar. When you’re working on a project, you’ll often want to view the changes that you’ve made to your files. SourceTree will merge the two branches together, and you’ll be able to continue working on your project. Select the branch you want to merge into your current branch, and then click `OK`. To do this, select the branch you want to merge into the main branch, and then select `Branch > Merge` from the menu bar. Once you’ve worked on your branches, you’ll want to merge them back into the main branch. Provide a name for the new branch, and then click `Create Branch.` To create a new branch, select the branch you want to create a new branch from, and then select `Branch > New Branch` from the menu bar. In SourceTree, working with branches is incredibly easy. Branches allow you to work on different features of your project simultaneously without interfering with each other. One of the most powerful features of Git is the ability to work with branches. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to start working on your new repository. Provide a name for the repository, and then specify whether you want to create a Git or Mercurial repository. Select `File > New Repository` from the menu bar, and then select the location where you want to create the repository. ![]() If you want to create a new repository, you can do this using SourceTree as well. ![]() You’ll be prompted to authenticate yourself, and once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to select the repository you want to clone. To do this, select `File > Clone / New` from the menu bar, and then select your Git hosting service from the list. If you want to work on a repository that already exists on your Git hosting service, you can clone it to your local machine using SourceTree.
